Why it's important to make work fun

Did you know that one toxic person can take less than 2 minutes to drag down the morale of 60 other people?

That's how fast bad vibes work.

Think back to the job you had where you did your best work. Was it gruelling and dull, or fun and inspiring? I bet it was the latter.

Workplaces that are enjoyable and happy are far more productive than those that are not.

Fun is not about having an office joker (although sometimes they help) it's about creating a positive culture where people are rewarded, acknowledge and celebrated.

It doesn't have to be hugely expensive or time consuming. It can include birthday cakes, morning tea, warm speeches acknowledging great performance or effort, ten pin bowling or the occasional lunch.

As individuals, people need to learn how to create a cheerful work persona – no matter what is going on in the rest of their life.

Learning how to act and think in a positive way, and look for the good in things, are skills that can be learned.
